Hi, I’m Andrew, and Smart Garden Guide is my website all about indoor gardening.
I’ve been obsessed with learning about and growing houseplants for most of my life. I started this website a few years ago to share my knowledge and experience, and help you look after your houseplants too.
In addition to my practical experience accumulated over many years of growing indoor plants, I’m also the author of Houseplants Made Easy, a complete guide to growing and understanding houseplants. I also hold a level 3 diploma in horticulture and have spent thousands of hours reading about and researching plant care.
I have a popular Pinterest account with over 9 million monthly viewers, where I collate collections of indoor and outdoor plant pictures and interesting plant care articles and resources.
Smart Garden Guide also has a very small Youtube channel where I record interesting plant care videos, mainly focused on indoor plants.
I’ve had a love of growing plants since my childhood. Some of my earliest memories are of helping my parents in the garden, and this is where my love of plants started.
Growing up, the windowsill of my bedroom was filled with a range of interesting and unusual plants. Cacti, Venus flytraps, Mother Of Thousands and Sensitive Plants were the type of plants that I loved to grow. Anything unusual or exotic and I was fascinated.
There’s nothing I enjoy more than growing and learning about all kinds of houseplants, and it has been such a pleasure developing my gardening skills over the years.
I love watching my plants grow and change every day while checking for signs of problems and fixing them where possible. When something doesn’t quite work out with one of my plants, I like to find out why and learn from my mistakes.
Writing about the plants that I grow has been a great way for me to develop my gardening knowledge and skills. It really makes me focus on learning about what my plants need to thrive and has helped me develop a structured process for keeping my plants looking great.
My main area of interest is houseplants of all varieties. My collection of houseplants continues to grow, and more and more rooms in my house are filling up with plants. You will find more than 200 articles on this website dedicated to all aspects of general and specific houseplant care. All have been meticulously researched and written to ensure their accuracy.
I also have a particular interest in growing orchids and have written extensively about them on this site, and have written an ebook about caring for phalaenopsis orchids.
